		<description>I don't know if Holdren's selection is a good thing in and of itself, but it certainly indicates the new administration might be willing to air (and consider?) a wider range of views.  Many federal employees have been fearful to voice views that may be different from the official ruling-party line.  Some did and lived to tell the tale, but plenty of others were used to make examples for the rest of us.  They were reassigned, harassed into leaving, or their projects cut so far back as to make their work untenable.

I liked Lomborg's "The Skeptical Environmentalist", although I am in no position to validate his techniques or claims.  In part, I was glad to see it generated some, uh, heat.  The general debate needs to be brought more into the open with respect to policy discussions.  We shall see...</description>
